I just updated my portfolio with images from the last 8 months. So very overdue. It’s so cool to look and see new images. Please take a look around, the photos from Uganda are some of my favorite photos I have ever taken. Hope you enjoy!

My Grandpa tells some of the best old family stories. I miss him a lot. He lives far away and I don’t get to see him very often.

A few years back my Grandpa send me his old rollei camera to use. I have taken many photos of this lovely little twin lens.

Lately my Etsy shop has been left in the dust of the holidays, my surgery, my ongoing illness, and traveling halfway around the world. So, it needed a lot of tender care this morning. My friend Jen from Cleveland was the inspiration for this update/spring cleaning (I know, it’s not spring yet. But a girl can dream, right?). Jen has been a great support for me and my art. She’s an artist too, so she knows the challenges of making art. You can read about her life on her blog. It’s filled with lovely life lessons, and lovely art. A perfect combination I think. It’s funny, when Jen and I lived in the same city (Cleveland) we never hung out. We were just friends in the sense that we knew each other, but never went out of the way to get coffee or anything. Then last year through the “power” of Facebook, we began a little friendship. I’m glad we did!

Jen and her husband Dave are currently working on a new home project for their daughter Bella’s room. They asked me if I would do a custom size of my giraffe print for them.  It’s going to be a “Creamsicle Kingdom”, and I can’t wait to see it all done, with my little print hanging on the wall with other great art. I am humbled they asked me. It’s quite a treat.

This morning I also added to my shop some prints from my trip to Uganda. These images are especially dear to my heart. They were taken with a deep desire to show the humanity of Uganda, the beauty. The children there changed me forever. I will never be the same, and part of me will always be in Uganda. I can’t help it. The kids there are just so dear and precious. They have such joy, such a desire for life.

The week started out fast as I had a photo session in DC with Domain7 to shoot some staff portraits. So, early Monday morning Emily was learning the ropes of how to set up my studio on the spot, and she did a great job! It’s great to have someone to carry your camera bag, but more then that Emily has got a great eye, and always brings ideas to the table. I love having her help!

The rest of the week we have been working on my book M Is For Mountains. It’s an ABC’s book filled with colorful photographs for little kids. I have been working on this book with my nephews and nieces in mind.  It should be out sometime in February, and would make a great gift for all the babies and little ones in your life. (Just saying… I am not trying to sell you anything. Oh, wait. Yes I am. I want you all to buy my book when it comes out. That would be sweet!)

Yesterday morning we shot some photos for jewelry designer Virginie of Roland-Designs. I had shot some photos for Roland-Designs a few months back, and Virginie asked me to shoot some more for her. It was a very cold morning, but still fun and the photos turned out really well! You can order your own jewelry from Roland Designs in her Etsy shop.

My friend Ashley also did hair and makeup again for me and she did an awesome job! We started at 8AM, and we all had cups of tea to get us through! Tea is helpful when you’re tired and cold. Take note all you photographers! Here’s the photo fresh off the press.

We also took some photos for my brother Jamison. He has been working on his upcoming new album so we shot some more photos for him to use for promotion and other music related stuff. Go listen to his music here.  Ashley also did Jamison’s hair. I think she gets a gold star for her hair cutting and styling skills.

I have loved having Emily around all week and will miss her come next Monday when I am back to working all alone. Having an intern is the best!

When I would take a photo in Uganda soon after a living flower of little kids would grow around me, and I would be completely overwhelmed. I miss it! I miss the smells and the sounds of such lovely little people.

I miss you little people. Can I come back?

And I will never be the same again.
